The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. The technique uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. Each interval is known as a pomodoro, from the Italian word for ‘tomato’.

A goal of the technique is to reduce the impact of internal and external interruptions on focus and flow. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomodoro_Technique)

There are six steps in the original technique:

  1. Decide on the task to be done (for example, completing Section 3 of this course, cleaning your room etc)
  2. Set the Pomodoro timer (alarm) to 25 minutes
  3. Work on the task until the timer rings. If a distraction pops into your head, write it down, but immediately get back on the task
  4. After the timer tings, put a star (or a tick) on a piece of paper
  5. Take a short 3–5 minute break (perhaps treat yourself with a candy :)
  6. Repeat steps 1–4
  7. After you have 4 ticks on your paper, you can take a longer break (15–20 minutes), and continue working on your task by going to step 1 until you complete your task.

My Experience:

I tried this process to complete my university assignment. I turned off my cell phone and start my work. It’s hard for me because there were many things going on in my head but i’m just control my mind to erase them. I focused too much due to irrelevant things going on in my mind but i were going according to the schedule. It’s really helpful, most of the time we waste so much time by distraction. It makes us to be more focused and stuck to our goal.

Suggestions:

As I experienced through this activity, It’s so beneficial in our daily life to save our time or stay focused to our work. It realized us the value of time and time is a thing if it is gone, never come back.
